What Is Open in Sunny Beach This Week? 1–6 September 2026

September has arrived—but summer certainly hasn’t left Sunny Beach.

If you are already here or arriving this week, there is no reason to worry that the resort has suddenly closed. The beach is active, the weather remains warm and the majority of the places visitors need are still operating.

Restaurants, supermarkets, bars, shops and family attractions remain open across the main areas of Sunny Beach. Old Nessebar is as lively and beautiful as ever, while excursions and activities continue to operate throughout September.

In fact, the first week of September can be one of the best times to experience the area: warm weather, a warm sea and slightly fewer crowds than during the busiest weeks of July and August.

Here is what visitors can enjoy in Sunny Beach and Nessebar from 1–6 September 2026.

Sunny Beach Is Still Open

The idea that Sunny Beach closes as soon as August ends is simply not true.

The resort gradually becomes quieter later in September, but during the first week of the month, Sunny Beach still feels very much like summer.

Visitors can expect to find:

• Restaurants and cafés throughout the resort
• Supermarkets and local shops
• Beach bars and daytime entertainment
• Bars and nightlife around the central areas
• Sunbeds and umbrellas along the beach
• Currency exchanges and pharmacies
• Taxis, buses and tourist transport
• Excursions and family attractions
• Regular connections to Nessebar and Sveti Vlas

Individual businesses may change their hours as the month progresses, but visitors arriving this week still have an excellent selection of places to eat, drink and explore.

The Beach and Sea Are Ready for September Visitors

Sunny Beach remains the main attraction.

Temperatures this week are expected to reach approximately 26–28°C, with plenty of sunshine. The Black Sea has retained much of its summer warmth, making the first part of September suitable for swimming, relaxing and spending full days on the beach.

The resort is becoming a little less crowded, which means more space on the sand and a more relaxed atmosphere.

This is an excellent time for:

• Swimming in the sea
• Long walks along the shoreline
• Relaxing on a sunbed
• Visiting beachfront restaurants
• Watching the sunset with a drink
• Walking between Sunny Beach and Nessebar

Use sun protection and carry water—the September sun can still be surprisingly strong.

Restaurants, Bars and Nightlife

The main restaurant and entertainment areas of Sunny Beach are still operating.

Visitors will continue to find plenty of choice around the centre, Flower Street, the promenade and the beachfront. Restaurants serving Bulgarian food, international dishes, fresh seafood, pizza, grills and family meals remain open across the resort.

Sunny Beach nightlife does not disappear on 1 September either. Although some of the biggest summer events begin to slow down later in the month, bars, pubs, karaoke venues and clubs continue to welcome visitors.

The atmosphere is often more relaxed than during peak season, making September especially enjoyable for couples and visitors who want entertainment without the largest summer crowds.

Old Nessebar Is Fully Worth Visiting

Old Nessebar does not depend only on the Sunny Beach party season. The historic town remains one of the most important attractions on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

Its cobbled streets, traditional houses, ancient churches, shops, cafés and sea-view restaurants continue to welcome visitors throughout September and beyond.

One of the best ways to experience Old Nessebar is to arrive during the late afternoon. Walk around the peninsula, stop for a drink at Michael’s Eco Bar and stay for dinner overlooking the sea.

Old Nessebar can be reached from Sunny Beach by:

• Walking along the coast

The slightly cooler September evenings make exploring the old streets much more comfortable.

Action Aquapark Remains Open

Families can still enjoy Action Aquapark in Sunny Beach.

The official closing date for the 2026 season is 28 September. Until 3 September, the park operates from 10:00 to 18:00. From 4 September, its opening hours change to 10:00–17:00.

The waterpark offers attractions for children, families and adults, with everything from relaxing areas to more extreme slides.

Visitors should remember that some attractions may operate in rotation, and the slides pause between 12:30 and 13:30.

September Is Perfect for a Safari

The slightly cooler September weather makes this one of the best periods for exploring the countryside outside Sunny Beach.

You can spend less time under the strongest summer heat while enjoying off-road routes, panoramic viewpoints and outdoor activities.

Quad Safari for Adventure Seekers

Drive an automatic ATV along an off-road countryside route near Kableshkovo. The experience includes approximately one hour of driving, a panoramic stop, protective equipment, an instructor and hotel pickup and return.

Mega Jeep Safari for Families and Groups

Mega Jeep Safari combines several activities in one three-to-four-hour adventure:

Boat Trips and Sea Experiences Continue

The Black Sea remains warm and boat experiences continue to operate on selected days, depending on weather and availability.

Catamaran Bubo offers morning and afternoon cruises across Nessebar Bay. The experience includes panoramic sailing, swimming time, food, drinks and shared transport from a designated pickup point near your accommodation.

Visitors who prefer more independence can also rent a self-drive boat from Nessebar Northern Harbour. One, three and five-hour options are available, as well as fishing and boat-with-captain experiences.

Khan’s Tent Is Still One of the Best Nights Out

Khan’s Tent offers a complete evening experience in the hills above Sunny Beach.

The night combines panoramic views, a four-course dinner, drinks, live music and an international cabaret show.

Try to arrive before sunset. The view across Sunny Beach, Nessebar and the Black Sea is an important part of the experience.

Selected September dates are available, but spaces can fill quickly.

Camel Park Is a Fun Family Alternative

Families looking for something different can visit Camel Park near Sunny Beach.

Visitors can meet and feed the camels, while additional activities may be available on site, including camel riding, pony riding, karting, archery and airsoft.

Transport is not included with the standard park entrance, but a private return transfer can be arranged.

Visit Sveti Vlas and Marina Dinevi

Sveti Vlas remains another excellent evening destination.

Walk around Marina Dinevi, enjoy the yachts and mountain views, and stop for dinner or a drink beside the water. The marina offers a quieter and more elegant contrast to central Sunny Beach.

Active visitors can walk sections of the coast between Sveti Vlas, Sunny Beach and Nessebar. The complete route is long, so wear comfortable shoes, carry water and return by bus or taxi if necessary.

What Is Happening in Burgas?

Visitors who want a change from the resort can also spend part of the week in Burgas.

The Festival of Sand Sculptures in Park Ezero remains open throughout September. From 1 September, its new opening hours are 09:00–20:00 every day.

On Friday, 4 September, the “We Will Queen You” concert brings the music of Queen to the Burgas Summer Theatre from 20:00.

Burgas also offers its Sea Garden, pedestrian shopping streets, restaurants, museums and regular live entertainment.

It can be reached from Sunny Beach by bus, taxi, rental car or private transfer.

Don’t Wait Until the Final Day to Book

Most major activities continue during the first week of September, but some excursions begin operating on selected days rather than every day.

For that reason, it is better to reserve your excursion near the beginning of your holiday. If weather affects a sea activity, there may still be time to move it to another available date.
