Rain in Sunny Beach? Don’t Worry – 9 Things to Do ☔☀️

Rainy-day activities and excursions from Sunny Beach

Seeing rain on your Sunny Beach forecast can be disappointing, but there is usually no reason to panic.

In our local experience, many summer showers pass within about an hour. A rain symbol does not necessarily mean the whole day will be wet. Sunny Beach weather can change quickly, and the sunshine often returns after a short shower.

Check the hourly forecast, keep your plans flexible and try one of these rainy-day ideas while you wait.

1. Wait for the Shower to Pass ☕

Before cancelling your beach day, find a nearby café or restaurant and give the weather a little time.

Have a coffee, enjoy a proper lunch or check the shops near your hotel. By the time you finish, the rain may already have stopped.

Look at the hourly forecast instead of relying only on the daily weather symbol. Our Sunny Beach weather guide explains why forecasts can sometimes look more dramatic than the actual weather.

2. Play Billiards or Go Bowling 🎱

A game of billiards is an easy option when you want to stay in Sunny Beach.

Pool & Snooker Club Plaza offers pool tables, Russian billiards and darts. Camelot Entertainment Centre is another option, with bowling lanes, pool tables and video games.

These venues can be seasonal, so check that they are open before leaving your hotel. Our interactive Sunny Beach map can also help you find entertainment close to your accommodation.

3. Take a Private Trip to Galleria Burgas 🛍️

If the weather looks unsettled for several hours, Galleria Burgas is one of the easiest options.

Sunny Beach Travel offers a flexible private trip to Galleria Mall or Burgas. Your vehicle is reserved for your group, and you can choose Galleria, central Burgas or combine two stops.

At Galleria, you can shop, have lunch, enjoy a coffee or simply spend a few comfortable hours indoors.

4. Watch a Film or Enjoy Indoor Games 🎬

Cinema City inside Galleria Burgas has ten modern cinema halls, including 3D screens.

The mall’s Playground entertainment centre also offers:

  • bowling;
  • billiards;
  • a laser arena;
  • electronic games;
  • food and drinks.

This makes Galleria particularly useful for families or groups in which everyone wants to do something different.

Film schedules and individual attraction hours can change, so check the current programme before travelling.

5. Discover the Museums of Burgas 🏛️

A rainy day is also a good opportunity to see a different side of Burgas.

The Regional Historical Museum includes separate exhibitions dedicated to:

  • archaeology;
  • local history;
  • ethnography;
  • natural history.

The museum buildings are in central Burgas, making them easy to combine with shopping, lunch or another city-centre stop.

Our private Burgas trip can take you into the centre, but museum admission and personal expenses are separate. Check which exhibitions are open on the day of your visit.

6. Visit the Archaeological Museum in Old Nessebar

The Archaeological Museum is one of the most practical indoor attractions in Old Nessebar.

Its collection helps visitors understand the town’s Thracian, Greek, Roman and medieval history. When the rain stops, you can continue with a walk through the old streets and historic churches.

The cobbled streets can become slippery, so wear suitable shoes and check the museum’s current opening hours before travelling.

7. Make It a Full Day at Varna Dolphinarium 🐬

Varna Dolphinarium is a memorable option for a planned family day.

If the forecast suggests a longer period of unsettled weather, Varna Dolphinarium can turn it into a memorable family day.

The dolphin show takes place indoors, so it is not dependent on beach weather. Sunny Beach Travel offers a Varna Dolphinarium excursion with optional private transport from Sunny Beach.

The Dolphinarium operates on scheduled performance times, and the dolphins normally rest on Mondays. Always check the current programme before booking or travelling.

Varna is too far away for a brief shower, but it is an excellent option when you want to organise a proper day out.

8. Enjoy a Spa or Indoor Pool 💆

A rainy afternoon can be the perfect time for a massage, sauna or indoor swim.

Several hotels around Sunny Beach have wellness facilities, but access for visitors who are not staying at the hotel varies. Ask your reception to recommend a nearby spa and confirm whether booking or a day pass is required.

This is an especially good option for couples who want a slower, more relaxing day.

9. Plan Your Next Sunny-Day Adventure ☀️

Plan your next Sunny Beach adventure while waiting for the sunshine to return.

Use the short break in the weather to decide what you want to do when the sunshine returns.

Almost all of our Sunny Beach excursions and activities continue running throughout September, although operating days vary. Boat trips and sea activities always depend on the weather and sea conditions.

Message the local Sunny Beach Travel team for the latest availability rather than assuming everything has been cancelled because of a little rain.

Rain Rarely Means Losing the Whole Day

The most important advice is simple: do not worry when you see a rain symbol.

Many showers in Sunny Beach are short and may pass in about an hour. Have lunch, play billiards, visit the shops or relax with a coffee, then check the sky again.

If the rain continues, Burgas, Nessebar and Varna offer plenty of alternatives. Occasionally, wet weather can last longer, so always check the hourly forecast and any official weather warnings before travelling.
